What is CBD?

Updated: Aug 14, 2019

CBD has become extremely popular in recent years. If you’re like sasquatch, you may be wondering, “what is CBD?” There is a lot of misinformation out there, so it’s easy to get confused. At 406 CBD, it is our mission to help educate the public on the true nature of CBD and the potential benefits.

So, what is CBD? Medical research has identified more than 120 compounds found in the Cannabis plant. These compounds were named cannabinoids. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of the many cannabinoids that have been identified by scientists. It is thought to act as a neurotransmitter with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Sasquatch is wondering why these cannabinoids are important. They are essential because we all have an endocannabinoid system that impacts various biological processes within the body. Once CBD enters your body, it actually works with receptors in your endocannabinoid system sending signals throughout your brain and body that help promote homeostasis, which is the body’s natural tendency to maintain a healthy balance in all its systems.

So, where does 406 CBD get it’s CBD from? Our products are derived from the hemp plant. While hemp and marijuana are related, they are not the same. Marijuana contains a higher amount of the cannabinoid known as THC. THC is the property in marijuana, which causes a person to feel high and is classified as a drug. Hemp contains negligible amounts of THC (.3%), so it doesn’t cause a high and is not classified as a drug. While the amount of THC from hemp will not cause a person to feel high, 406 CBD undergoes a process which removes all traces of THC from the product. This allows our customers the opportunity to receive the benefits of our product without worrying about failing a drug test.

So, now that you know a little bit about what CBD is and why it’s important, you may be wondering what it’s used for. CBD is famous for helping sufferers with epilepsy but it’s most popular for aches and pains as well as mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. People are using CBD for everything from getting better sleep to aiding in workout recovery. The anti-inflammatory effects make CBD an excellent health boost for almost everyone!

But don’t just take my word for it. There are tons of studies being done and more coming out every day. We encourage you to conduct independent research and discuss CBD supplementation with your physician. To help you get started, we put together a small list of scientific studies on our website. While you’re there, subscribe to our mailing so you can gain access to free training, insider information, special pricing, and more!
